124 lives, 124 faces mended in 2010
Between January 21st and February 6th of 2010, Uplift Internationale volunteers met with countless family members full of worry and anticipation, and worked tirelessly to change the lives of 124 children ranging in age from 6 months to nineteen years.
All received the care at no cost to their impoverished families.
The Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City and the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan served as the host hospitals for this year’s two-week medical mission.
The self-funded 58-member Mission Team, over half of whom were first-time volunteers, consisted of 7 surgeons, 7 anesthesiologists, 3 pediatricians, 2 dentists, 3 speech therapists, 22 nurses and 13 support personnel. Common to each were the rewarding experiences of making a heart-to-heart connection with the children and receiving the thanks from the children’s families as they shared renewed hopes and dreams for their offspring.
